We live in West Cornwall, on 25 acres of well drained, south facing fields where we can see both north (St. Ives Bay) and south (St. Michaels Mount) coasts (on a clear day!) in a granite farm house dating back to the early 19th century;  allegedly Richard Trevithick’s mine captain lived here.  We are on a two holding site, one for our breeding, the adjacent holding to the North aimed at the promotion of our fleece and yarn.  With fabulous views and rugged scenery this is real Poldark countryside.  Situated barely 30 minutes from Newquay airport and 8 minutes from the A30, we enjoy the tranquillity of the Cornish countryside but are accessible for visitors.

The Crewenna Herd is established and entering it's eighth year of breeding, the result of our breeding programme is emerging and future plans are laid down. In 2017, after careful selection we added more true black from the prestigous SilverStream herd New Zealand to our herd to expand our gene pool and to deepen our black breeding programme and imported black suri's directly, male and females with deep black genetics.  Our fleeces are selected and spun into top quality yarns, in natural colours and some small batches of dyed; our latest yarn project is a blend of natural black huacaya and suri, to create a lustrous black yarn.

2023  -  Two new stud males have arrived from prestigous herds.  Beck Brow Ammunition, white huacaya male, who I spotted at the 2017 BAS National Show, whe he was placed 1st in a large class of junior white males.  Artwork B.R. Dash, dark brown huacaya, who has been on my radar since 2017, when I saw his sire Snowmass Bronze Royalty arrive at Heathrow, from the elite Snowmass herd U.S.A.  Sadly Bronze Royalty is no longer here, but I have been fortunate to be able to purchase on of his last sons bred at Artwork alpacas.  I have been privelged to be able to also purchase daughters from Snowmass Velvet Voyager and Snowmass Mystic Star, which will no doubt take our herd to the next level.

With our foundation herd in place, our ribbons and sashes proudly displayed, we have won County Championships on halter and fleece, bred our own National Champion in Amadeus and started 2020 with a flourish with Night Fever winning National Black Champion of Champions Fleece, having won three sashes at County shows on his qualifying journey in 2019.  2023, Corinthian added to his awards with a Supreme Fleece at the BAS Cornwall Fleece Show, Judge's Choice and Champion White fleece with an outstanding score of 83.5 points.  We plan to continually improve our fleece quality by selective mating and providing the best care for our alpacas. Our fleece quality is improving year on year, finer, brighter and softer handle, we have more to offer our customers seeking the best alpaca yarn and fleece.
